One of my biggest passions is writing. I love to write, and fanfiction is something that allows me (and others) to both write, and explore different aspects of the shows and movies they love. In fanfiction, scenes can be expanded upon, shrunken down, and characters can be explored in intimate ways.
What's not to love?

But as I wrote more and more, I realized that a lot of times, fiction that's about black people was very sparse, and rare, and this was true for all kinds of fandoms. I had a difficult time finding great stories about Kaldur'ahm from Young Justice, or stories about Eli Bradley from Young Avengers, or Sam Wilson and Rhodey from the MCU.

And when stories that did focus on those characters sprung up, they were hardly noticed or celebrated...and its disheartening to see it happen so often in a fandom space.

And I wasn't the only person who noticed.

A while back, a tumblr blog called BlackFanGirlsUnite, created a tag that was specifically used for showcasing, and celebrating, fanfiction that centered around black characters. This tag was called "Blackinfanfiction" where people could post their own stories with canon black characters, or black OC's, in a place where they could be recognized.

And now, I think it's time we expanded. While I love the blackinfanfiction tag, I think we also need a space where we can post our stories for others. The more exposure, the better right?

So come on, if you've written a great Rhodey fic, post it here. If there's a slash fic you love that centers on a black character, send it our way. If you're writing a multi-chapter fic that centers on black characters, we'd be happy to squee all over it!

Don't be shy :)
